Queen of the Holy Rosary Shrine

A Proposed Environmental Sculpture

       DEVELOPMENT

GOALS:

Initial development of the Rosary Shrine calls for the acquisition of a minimum 20 acres of land. We do not require prime land for the Rosary Shrine, therefore, there are several avenues we intend to pursue:

  1. placement at an already existing religious Catholic site

  2. acquisition of land by donation

  3. purchase property with donated funds

Our aim is to work diligently along these lines. Several Bishops have suggested the placement of the Shrine at an existing site but, failing that as a possibility, simultaneous efforts will be made along the alternative avenues.

We will be looking for land with rolling hills, trees and, ideally, a stream. Failing that, we would look for land which has little or no farming or commercial value. For example, an abandoned gravel quarry would be considered. Quarry operators have a statutory obligation to leave their lands in good environmental condition when they stop their quarrying operations. In return for a lower price for the land, we could offer to clean up an environmental eyesore which the quarry operator has left behind. As we would experience costs to prepare the land for our use... regardless of the prior use; we would have a bargaining tool by offering to the quarry operator relief from costs which they would have to pay in any event.

Besides seeking to have the Rosary Shrine built on existing religious, Catholic sites or having the land donated we ask the following:
